Common Name: Bald Cypress
Taxodium distichum-fastigiata is a moderately growing deciduous tree that grows 50-100 ft tall and 20-30 ft wide in pyramid-shaped crown habit of growth. Small leaves spirally around stem have sage green color in summer turning russet, soft brown to orangish brown in fall. It has reddish brown, fibrous bark. Cones are woody, brown sphere with rough surface and serve as food for birds. Best grown in full sun exposure but tolerates partial shade in a wide range of rich, moist, acidic soil that drains well. Suitable for hedges, wide tree lawns, reclamation plant, screen and shade tree.
