Common Name: Pond Cypress
Taxodium ascendans is a vigorous deciduous conifer that grows 70-80 ft high in conical or columnar growth habit with spreading branches and upright branchlets. Bright green awl-shaped foliage turns rich orange-brown in fall. Light brown bark is deeply furrowed. Best grown in full sun exposure in a wide range of rich, moist, well-drained soil. Excellent for tree lawn, specimen, or street without sidewalk.
