Nectarine Arctic Glo Dwarf

Common Name: Arctic Glo Dwarf Nectarine

Prunus persica var. nucipersica ‘Arctic Glo’ Arctic Glo Dwarf / Semi-Dwarf Nectarine Arctic Glo nectarine is a deciduous fruit tree grown for its pink spring blossoms and early-season, red-skinned nectarines with white flesh. The fruit is known for a strong sweet-tart flavor with good sugar-acid balance, and some sources describe the flesh as crimson-streaked white. It is commonly sold as a semi-dwarf tree for home orchards rather than a true genetic dwarf. It is self-fruitful and usually ripens in early summer, around late June to July depending on climate. Type: Deciduous fruit tree Mature Size: 10–12 ft. wide × 10–12 ft. tall on semi-dwarf rootstock USDA Zones: 6a–9b; some listings give 5a–8b depending on source and rootstock Form: Semi-dwarf, rounded fruit tree Light: Full sun Soil / Water: Fertile, well-drained soil; regular water, especially during establishment and fruit development Bloom Time / Length: Early to mid-spring; pink flowers, typically 1–2 weeks Wildlife: Flowers attract bees and other pollinators; fruit may attract birds, squirrels, deer, and other wildlife Features & Landscape Uses: Good choice for home orchards, edible landscapes, sunny yards, and small fruit plantings where an early white-fleshed nectarine is wanted. The fruit is useful for fresh eating, drying, preserves, and cooking. It needs about 400–500 chill hours, which makes it adaptable to many moderate-winter climates. Care: Plant in full sun with good air circulation. Prune annually in late winter or very early spring to maintain an open-center shape, remove crossing branches, and improve light penetration. Thin young fruit to improve fruit size and reduce limb breakage. Watch for peach leaf curl, brown rot, bacterial spot, aphids, scale, and peach tree borers.
