The fruit is known for a strong sweet-tart flavor with good sugar-acid balance, and some sources describe the flesh as crimson-streaked white. It is commonly sold as a semi-dwarf tree for home orchards rather than a true genetic dwarf. It is self-fruitful and usually ripens in early summer, around late June to July depending on climate.
