Magnolia 'Ann'

Common Name: Ann Magnolia

Magnolia ‘Ann’ (Ann Magnolia) is a deciduous shrub or small tree with a compact, rounded habit, featuring medium green leaves and slightly fragrant, purple-red flowers that open in mid-spring. This late-blooming Little Girl magnolia is especially valued because it flowers a bit later than many magnolias, so blooms are less likely to be damaged by spring frosts. Flowers may also rebloom lightly in summer, and foliage turns yellow in fall.  Type: Shrub / small treeMature Size: 8–10' W × 8–12' HUSDA Zones: 4a–8bForm: Compact, rounded to broad upright  Light: Full sun to part shadeSoil / Water: Rich, well-drained, slightly acidic soils; moderate water, prefers consistent moisture during establishmentBloom Time / Length: Mid-spring; moderate (about 2–3 weeks), with occasional light rebloom in summer  Wildlife: Bees Features & Landscape Uses:Excellent for specimen planting, foundation beds, mixed shrub borders, and small gardens. Its compact size, rich flower color, and later bloom time make it one of the best magnolias for smaller landscapes in colder regions.  Care:Plant in a protected site with well-drained soil and avoid hot, dry exposures. Prune only as needed just after flowering. Water regularly while establishing, and mulch to keep roots cool and evenly moi
