Magnolia grandiflora 'Victoria'

Common Name: Victoria Magnolia

Magnolia grandiflora ‘Victoria’ (Victoria Southern Magnolia) is a broadleaf evergreen tree with a dense, pyramidal to broadly conical habit, featuring glossy dark green leaves with rusty-brown undersides and large, creamy white, lemon-fragrant flowers in early to mid-summer. This cultivar is especially valued for its improved cold hardiness and strong performance in milder northern and Pacific Northwest climates compared with many Southern magnolias. Type: Tree (Evergreen) Mature Size: 20–30' W × 25–35' H USDA Zones: 6a–9b Form: Dense, pyramidal to broadly conical Light: Full sun to part shade Soil / Water: Moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soils; moderate water, prefers consistent moisture during establishment Bloom Time / Length: Early to mid-summer; intermittent bloom over several weeks Wildlife: Bees, birds Features & Landscape Uses: Excellent as a specimen, evergreen screen, lawn tree, or year-round focal point. Its glossy foliage, fragrant flowers, and greater cold tolerance make it a strong choice where standard Southern magnolias may be borderline hardy. Care: Plant in a sheltered site with well-drained soil and room to mature. Water regularly while establishing, then during extended dry periods. Mulch the root zone to help conserve moisture and protect roots, especially in colder areas.
